“Wildlife Photographer of the Year” Exhibition at Milan Museum
The world's most prestigious wildlife photography exhibition: “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” is now on display in Milan Museum Fondazione Luciana Matalon until 10th December 2017.
With the patronage of the city of Milan, the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography exhibition returns to the Milan museum of Fondazione Luciana Matalon. Thanks to the Cultural Association Radicediunopercento, a range of award-winning images have made their way into the photography contest. Originally launched by the Natural History Museum in London, the exhibition celebrates its 52nd year in Italy’s Milan museum.
Over 50,000 professional and non-professional images by photographers from 95 countries were selected by an international jury of experts based on creativity, artistic value and technique. Of these submissions, 100 pictures were chosen by the jurors. These 100 pictures were then divided into 16 categories, eight of which featured Italian prize winners, category winners or finalists.
The acclaimed Milan museum exhibition showcased extraordinary images of the Earth and the beauty and diversity of nature while highlighting the fragility of wildlife on our planet. These stunning moments were immortalized by photographers, giving an exciting and conscious look at environments that need preservation.
The exhibition also displays award-winning images from the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year”, American photographer Tim Laman. Tim Laman shot incredible photos of the Indonesian rainforest, showing the Borneo orangutan, a species now endangered due to the loss of habitat and the illegal trade of animals.
Even young photographers are welcomed, as 16-year-old Gideon Knight from the UK won “Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year” with his London photo contrasting the twigs of a sycamore tree against the background of a blue sky and full moon. As well as the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” and “Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year”, the exhibition also features all the award-winning images.
