Our Favorite Ski Resorts

Austria
The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn resort is Austria's largest ski vacation hotspot, with 270 km of runs and 70 ski lifts. It has a number of safe and enjoyable ski funparks, making it a good choice for families. Alternatively, you may be interested in Kitzbühel, which is a legendary ski destination in the Alps. It is a good choice for skiers who want a luxurious ski vacation with the opportunity to shop for designer goodies as there are a number of top designer boutiques in the area. The medieval old town is also particularly attractive and in the summer there are plenty of hiking trails to enjoy.

Switzerland
Gstaad is one of the largest ski areas in the Alps with around 220 km of slopes and has proved popular with Holywood stars, including Julie Andrews. It is associated with luxury, with decadent cuisine and high quality hotels, and so is a good choice for a special ski vacation in Switzerland.

Italy
North Italy is an excellent choice for a ski vacation in Europe and some of Europe's finest resorts can be found here. Madonna di Campiglio in Trentino-Alto Adige is a particularly good choice for young couples or groups as it is known for its vibrant atmosphere and has a wide range of bars and cafes that cater to tourists. The resort sits in a valley between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella. It is a prime choice for ski or snowboard enthusiasts as it is regarded as Italy’s number one ski resort, with many kilometres of runs at varying levels of difficulty. There are also 57 ski lifts and the resort covers 50,000 m2 of snow park. Alternatively, the Aosta Valley is also very popular with skiers, who flock to Aosta and Courmayeur in the Italian Alps close to Mont Blanc. Courmayeur in particular is a good choice for those looking for a short ski break as it can be easily reached from Turin Caselle airport and has good transport links.

France
The French Alps draw many winter vacation enthusiasts every year and they are popular with both skiers and snowboarders. We really like Val Thorens, which is the highest resort in Europe at an altitude of 2300 meters. It is home to the largest ski area in the world, called the 3 Vallées, which has around 600 km of interconnected runs. It is also a car-free resort with a friendly atmosphere and snow during the ski season is almost guaranteed! Alternatively, Alpe d’Huez is a winter sports that is well known for its sunny climate. It sits on the Grandes Rousses mountain range and the resort offers stunning panoramic views of the French Alps.
