Detailed itinerary:
From experience, we love the following combination of islands with the Greek mainland:
Mykonos: also known as "the island of the winds", thanks to the cooling summer breeze that comes in from the north, Mykonos is one of Greece's most popular islands. As well as the beaches, popular attractions include the pelicans around the town's waterfront, the quaint windmills, Little Venice, the Armenistis Lighthouse and Tria Pigadia.
Santorini: located in the southern Aegean Sea southeast of Greece's mainland, Santorini is the southernmost member of the Cyclades islands. Attractions include the archaeological site at Akrotiri, the Assyrtiko grape vineyards and the Red Beach. It regularly appears in travel magazines as one of the world's top island getaways.
Rhodes: one of the most famous of the Greek islands and the largest of the Dodecanese islands. Its nickname is "the island of the knights", after the knights that once conquered the land. Attractions include the Colossus of Rhodes (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), the medieval old town and the numerous archaeological sites, such as the Acropolis of Lindos and the Acropolis of Rhodes with the Temple of Pythian Apollo.
Athens: the capital of Greece and the largest city in Greece. Here you can discover the legends of the Greeks at the Parthenon temple, the Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery.
